On Monday March 5, 2007, Wisconsin State Representatives Scott Newcomer, Dean Kaufert, Tom Nelson and Roger Roth met to discuss and tour GoodMoneysm, Prospera Credit Union and Goodwill NCW’s collaborative effort that provides an alternative to traditional payday lending outlets.  Newcomer, the newly named chairman of the Wisconsin State Assembly Financial Institutions Committee, had been extended the invitation from Goodwill NCW’s Rick Sense earlier this year.  After learning more about the program, Newcomer extended his invitation to all the members on his committee.

Also in attendance were Ken Eiden and Kristi Van Schyndel from Prospera Credit Union, Bob Pedersen and Rick Sense from Goodwill NCW, Tom Liebe from the Wisconsin Credit Union League, and Brian Casey from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

The meeting focused on how GoodMoney has impacted the Fox Cities, the role that FISC-CCCS plays in north central Wisconsin and the future prospects of the non-traditional lending industry in Wisconsin.  The legislators came away from the discussion and tour with true appreciation for GoodMoney and were supportive of the program’s mission.
