Meet Ashlie – Gaining Work Skills and Confidence
Ashlie came to Goodwill NCW through an 18 month Inclusa program for work skills training services and is working on building her confidence and independence. Recently, with her coach on a leave of absence, she has been able to put her new skills to work and take on shifts where she works more independently.
Employment Placement Specialist Kya shares, “Over the past few weeks, Ashlie has really shown great progress – working on her own and showing a lot of confidence in what she is doing. It’s been great to see her take ownership and thrive without needing a job coach by her side!”
We are proud to be a part of Ashlie’s story!
Meet Tanya: Building Employment Skills
Tanya first joined Goodwill NCW in 2019 as an intern through a partnership with Employment Resource Inc. (ERI). After completing her internship, she became a team member, gaining valuable retail experience that she was able to use in exploring opportunities outside of Goodwill. Tanya eventually returned to Goodwill and now serves as a donor greeter at the Lake Hallie store, where she enjoys sorting donations and unique items that customers get to discover in our stores each day.

Mursal and Zala – Sisters Overcoming Barriers
Meet Zala and Mursal! The sisters came to the US from Afghanistan with help from our partner agency, World Relief, who then connected them to Goodwill NCW. They started as work-experience interns, seeking to build their English and digital skills in order to thrive in the US job market.
Today, both sisters are valued members of our Eau Claire team. Zala has grown in her English skills and blossomed into a confident, respected coworker, and Mursal is now fluent in conversational English and becoming increasingly tech-savvy.
Store team leader Robert states, “Mursal and Zala have been such a great addition to our team! They came to us as work experience interns through World Relief, and we have been blessed to be able to hire them fully as team members. We are so happy to have them with us. They are such a positive energy in the production room, and they brighten everyone’s day around them.”
Goodwill NCW is proud to be a part of the sisters’ continued journey!
Supporting Nearly 2,500 People with Community Aid
Thanks to your donations and purchases, in 2024 Goodwill NCW’s GoodNeighbor program provided community aid to nearly 2,500 individuals in the Coulee region experiencing challenging circumstances through our partner agencies. GoodNeighbor is a Goodwill NCW program that provides an important supplement for immediate needs through the use of GoodNeighbor gift cards. This allows individuals in need to purchase products from our retail and outlet stores. Goodwill NCW partners with community non-profits to offer GoodNeighbor cards to people served through their programs.
