Prepare Your Workspace

First, find a wood stool at your local Goodwill store. Once you bring it home, prepare your workspace by laying down a trash bag to catch debris and spills. Secure the edges with pins or tape to keep it in place.

Sand the Stool

Wear gloves to protect your hands and use sandpaper or sander to sand down the wood stool. Make sure to sand the entire surface thoroughly to create a smooth base for staining.

Stain the Wood

Once the stool is sanded and dust-free, it’s time to stain. Choose a wood stain that complements your home decor. Apply the stain with a paintbrush, working in the direction of the wood grain. Aim for a smooth, even coat.

Wipe and Dry

After applying the stain, wait about 5-10 minutes, then use a clean cloth to wipe off any excess stain. This will help avoid any uneven spots or drips. Allow the stool to dry for about four hours.

Apply the Topcoat

Apply a topcoat of clear sealer. Let this dry for 24 hours to ensure it sets properly.

Decorate and Enjoy

Now that your stool is transformed into a beautiful plant stand, add your favorite plant. Whether it’s a lush fern or a vibrant succulent, your new piece of décor is sure to enhance any room or garden space.
