While it’s still quite cold here in WI, I know I’m more than ready for spring. Sunnier days, warmer weather, and pulling out all the spring décor to brighten up our space is always something I look forward to every year. Even if the snow and chilly temperatures decide to linger a little longer than we would like, bringing a pop of color back into our home helps make the season feel a little closer.
One of my favorite ways to refresh our space for spring is with faux florals (although real ones work too!), wreaths, throw blankets, and pillows that have that light, fresh feel.
When it comes to finding new seasonal pieces, Goodwill NCW is always my go-to. It’s an easy way to update our décor without overspending. I usually head straight to the florals, baskets, throw pillows, and blankets. The best part about thrifting for spring is that you never know what you’ll find. One trip might uncover pastel ceramics, while another might surprise you with the perfect floral centerpiece.
On a recent visit, I found a few fun pieces that I can easily work into my spring décor. One of my favorites was a sweet bunny canvas print that instantly gave off those spring and Easter vibes. I also picked up a simple plate that I turned into a decorative accent by hot gluing a photo hanger to the back. Now it can be hung on the wall, leaned on a shelf, or displayed on a small stand. It’s such an easy and affordable DIY that adds a unique seasonal touch to any space in your home.

Spring decorating doesn’t have to mean a complete overhaul. Sometimes it’s as simple as swapping out heavier winter textiles for lighter fabrics in softer colors. Think florals, soft greens, blush pinks, pale yellows, and light blues. Even changing your throw pillow covers can instantly brighten a living room.
I also love layering in baskets this time of year. Not only do they add texture and warmth, but they’re also practical for storing blankets, magazines, or even kids’ toys. Goodwill always seems to have a great selection of baskets in different shapes and sizes, which makes it easy to find something that fits your space.
Florals are another easy win for spring decorating. Faux stems can be mixed and matched to create custom arrangements that look high-end without the high price tag. Try placing them in thrifted vases, pitchers, or even watering cans for a creative twist. Grouping items in odd numbers and varying the heights of your décor pieces can help create a more styled and balanced look.
Spring also makes me think of mushroom hunting. Once the ground starts to thaw, we love heading out to forage for morels. It’s a tradition we look forward to every year. Because of that, you’ll usually find a few mushroom décor pieces sprinkled throughout our home this time of year. Whether it’s a small figurine tucked onto a shelf or a whimsical mushroom print, these little nods to one of our favorite spring activities make our décor feel more personal and meaningful.

That’s one of my favorite parts about shopping at Goodwill NCW. You can find items that reflect your hobbies, traditions, and personality. Spring décor doesn’t have to be trendy or expensive to feel fresh, it just needs to make you smile when you walk into the room.
If you’re feeling ready for spring but the weather isn’t quite cooperating yet, consider starting inside. Add a wreath to your front door, refresh your mantel with a few thrifted finds, or create a simple centerpiece for your dining table. Small changes can make a big impact.
Next time you stop into your local Goodwill NCW, take your time and browse each aisle. Look at items with a little creativity and imagine how they could fit into your home. With a little inspiration and a few budget-friendly finds, you can welcome spring into your space – no matter what the forecast says.
