Upcycling thrifted items to create a bee bath is a fantastic way to repurpose old items and provide a safe space for bees to drink and cool off. Here are some simple steps you can follow to create your own upcycled bee bath:

Finished Upcycled Bee Bath

01

Gather supplies

  • Flowerpot
  • Glass dish (we used a pie plate)
  • Multi-surface glue
  • Decorations: small glass stones/beads, rocks/pebbles, beach glass, or a variety of each
  • Spray paint
  • Water

02

Find a flowerpot and glass dish at your local Goodwill. Look for dishes that are shallow and have a wide opening. The flowerpot will be used as the base, so make sure to look for one that is sturdy.

Step 2 Upcycled Bee Bath

03

Clean the items thoroughly with soap and water. Make sure they are completely dry before moving on to the next step.

04

Apply the glue and decorations, like stones, glass beads, or decorative rocks, to the outer edge of the dish.

05

While that dries, spray paint the flowerpot with a color that coordinates your decorations.

06

Cover the bottom of your bath with stones or decorative rocks.

07

Fill with water, but not too high; bees need to land and sip safely.

08

Glue the base to the glass of the dish.

09

Place your finished project in your garden or yard and remember to keep the water clean for your bee friends!
