Winter is here to stay; for some, it can be bitter and unhappy, but your closet doesn’t have to be! Winter thrifting at Goodwill NCW is the perfect time to evaluate what you want to get rid of, and what you want to look for on your next thrifting adventure. Look for items that are cozy and comfortable. If you feel comfortable in what you wear, it will make you want to wear the item again and again. Now is a good time to check if you need a pair of new snow boots or other winter necessities. If you start looking farther in advance for these items, it gives you time to be more selective with the items you want to thrift.

Warm items can help make winter more bearable. If you have warm and cozy clothing and accessories, it may even inspire you to take part in some winter activities like ice skating or going to a holiday market. Goodwill NCW is one of my favorite places to thrift for natural fibers because you can get them for a fraction of the cost compared to what you would expect to pay new. There are endless options of different styles and fabrics, so whatever material you prefer, you can likely thrift it at Goodwill NCW! It may also be a good idea to stock up on layering pieces the next time you shop. If you stock up on long sleeves, long underwear, cozy socks, and more, winter chores like snow blowing may just be a bit more bearable.

This time of year is also great to analyze what colors you like to wear. Some specific colors like hunter green or crimson may help put you in the festive mood! You may be excited to break in your new thrifted find, but is it complete without accessorizing? Think about picking out a pin or a fancy belt to compliment the trench coat you picked up. If you are looking to change the style of your purse, but don’t want to replace the purse you already have, think about looking at the scarf section. Scarves can be a great accessory because they can be styled in a variety of ways. You can simply tie the scarf around the handle of the bag, wrap the scarf around the straps of the bag, or whatever other way you can think of to change things up. The great thing about accessorizing your thrift finds is that you can easily make them your own and even create a statement piece for your outfit.

Going thrifting before or after the holidays is a great time to stock up for holiday attire. If you need a festive Christmas sweater or fancy dress, Goodwill NCW is the place to find one! There is a whole section that is filled with festive apparel. There are so many options for any occasion you can think of.

Puzzles and board games are the perfect combination of items for when you are snowed in. If you like to play in the snow, you can also find snow gear and snow toys to help keep you busy. Another popular section is the book section. There are all kinds of different genres and authors to choose from. Books also make a great gift for friends or family.
