5 ways to boost your money management skills header image

Spring into less stress and more money management success this season! Our team of trained financial counselors on Goodwill NCW’s Financial Wellness Services team are here to offer helpful advice during April’s National Financial Literacy Month and all year round. Each year, Goodwill NCW’s Financial Wellness Services assists more than 2,500 people through financial skills and counseling sessions to improve their financial stability.

Here are a few easy money tips you can start today:

1. If you’re looking for assistance reaching your financial goals, we’re here to help. Get confidential advice by calling Goodwill NCW’s Financial Wellness Services at (920) 886-1000 or by visiting our website. Our team offers personal advice on topics like bankruptcy counseling, practical budgeting guidance, help with student loans, buying a home and more.

2. Build an emergency savings fund. A healthy emergency savings fund will have three or more months of living expenses set aside. This cushion will help you weather the unexpected storms of life.

3. Create a spending plan. A spending plan is a simple and effective way to stay on budget each month and reduce financial stress. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has a helpful toolkit you can download to get started.

4. Memorize this phone number: 2-1-1. Dial 2-1-1 from anywhere in the United States or Canada to learn about local health and human services. 2-1-1 will help you explore available financial services for preparing your taxes, budgeting workshops, legal services and more.

5. Watch out for scams and traps. Getting caught in a scam can be very costly. If you have any doubt about the legitimacy of a deal or service, you can check the Federal Trade Commission’s website for the latest information on scams and how to avoid them.

If you still have questions about how to best manage your finances, reach out and we’ll be happy to help!
