Your purchases and donations stay local and support individuals served by Goodwill NCW as they build job skills to sustain employment and improve their financial stability.

Every purchase provides pathways. Goodwill NCW reinvests an average of 90 cents of every dollar in store sales back into the mission to provide life-changing impact to individuals with barriers to employment.

Every donation builds job skills. The average donation creates nearly three hours of job training through Goodwill NCW mission programs to empower individuals to reach their fullest potential.

Every partnership creates opportunities. Goodwill NCW partners with more than 120 nonprofits across north central Wisconsin to transform lives through the power of work.

Meet Michal

Michal is a Shift Leader at the Rice Lake Goodwill store. Her journey to a leadership role started more than six years ago when she began working as a cashier.

Through the years, Michal’s store team recognized her potential, but Michal was intimidated by the increased level of responsibilities and training required to become a leader. With encouragement, Michal began shadowing other leaders to explore the duties of a Shift Leader. She also practiced her interview skills with help from Goodwill NCW’s Employment Placement Specialist.

“Michal is a very strong and capable leader. She just needed some encouragement to step out of her comfort zone and work on her confidence,” Mandy Givens, Store Team Leader at the Rice Lake Goodwill said.

Michal admits she never imagined being in a leadership role. Today, becoming a Shift Leader is what Michal is most proud of accomplishing when she thinks about her time at Goodwill NCW.

Meet Saphra

Saphra first joined the Goodwill Onalaska store through an 18-month training program. Her goal was to prepare to get a job in the community. During the program, she learned how to work independently and find her voice by speaking up when she had questions.

When Saphra completed her program, she decided that she wanted to apply for a position at Goodwill NCW. With support from the Goodwill NCW mission team, she completed an application and prepared for her interview. She was hired as a Customer Experience Specialist. Saphra’s leaders say she has grown tremendously. She no longer needs support from an outside workforce agency because she learned the job skills needed to complete work tasks and sustain employment.

The difference that Goodwill NCW made in Saphra’s life inspired her mom to apply for a job at Goodwill NCW too. Today, they are growing and thriving at the Onalaska Goodwill store.
