Location opening in Merrill soon

Goodwill North Central Wisconsin (NCW) will be breaking ground on the future site of a new store location in the city of Merrill. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 3500 E. Main Street in Merrill, on November 2 at noon. The new store is scheduled to open in the spring of 2027 with daily operating hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. This new location will join the existing 27 stores, four donation centers and one outlet store found across Goodwill NCW’s 35-county service area.

This new store will support Goodwill NCW’s ongoing commitment to our communities through our mission of Elevating People by Eliminating Barriers to Employment. Donations from the community will give items a new life while supporting Goodwill NCW’s mission. Revenue generated through store sales helps fund employment programs and skills training, with more than 90 cents of every dollar supporting programs that help individuals attain sustained employment and improved financial stability.

“We are very excited to expand our presence into Merrill and create more opportunities to invest in people and the community,” said Chris Hess, President and CEO of Goodwill NCW. “Every donation and purchase helps fuel the power of work, supporting life-changing job programs that help people build skills, find meaningful employment and strengthen the local economy.”

The new store will occupy the former Church Mutual Insurance building. MJI Building Services (MJI) will be remodeling the interior/exterior for the new Goodwill NCW retail store.

“MJI Building Services is proud to partner with Goodwill North Central Wisconsin on an exciting new retail project in Merrill, Wisconsin, marking the organization’s first new store in more than a decade”, said Mark Ihlenfeldt, CEO & Owner at MJI. “Designed with the future in mind, the new Merrill location will reflect Goodwill North Central Wisconsin’s vision for an enhanced shopping experience while creating a space that supports the organization’s ongoing mission and community impact.”

Media and local business leaders are invited to the ceremony. The Merrill Chamber, local dignitaries and Goodwill NCW President and CEO, Chris Hess, are scheduled to make remarks.
