Sarah, a mother of four, transformed her life with the support of Career EXCELerate. After growing up in the Amish community, Sarah made the life-changing decision in 2018 to leave to pursue a new path for herself and her family. Starting from the ground up, she earned her GED (high school equivalency credential), built essential technology skills, obtained her driver’s license and secured employment. Still, Sarah knew she was capable of more and set her sights on her lifelong dream of earning her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Despite years of setbacks, including repeated denials due to health and financial barriers, Sarah never gave up on her goal. When she was referred to Career EXCELerate, she finally found the support she needed. The program fully funded her training, licensing and required medical certifications, while also providing career guidance, resume support and encouragement every step of the way. With these resources, Sarah not only obtained her CDL but launched a career where she now earns twice her previous income, has paid off debt and continues to grow both professionally and personally.

Today, Sarah is thriving in her career at a local transportation company. She shares that Goodwill NCW continues to check in, offering ongoing support and encouragement. She credits her transformation to her faith, hard work and the continued support of Career EXCELerate. Looking ahead, Sarah is excited to keep building her future and to serve as an example to others facing barriers that change is possible with perseverance and the right support.
