WISCONSIN — Opening day for Miracle League of the Chippewa Valley, a program of Goodwill North Central Wisconsin (Goodwill NCW), is Monday, June 10. Miracle League offers children and teens with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball in an organized, non-competitive league on a safe, accessible baseball field. The league is all about enhancing the players’ social skills, building self-esteem, and being treated just like other kids. This year, Miracle League of the Chippewa Valley has more than 180 players.

The season is eight weeks long, beginning in June. Throughout the season, players ages four to 19 are paired with community volunteers who assist and encourage them during the games. Volunteer pitchers, umpires, announcers, coaches and team helpers also make up the more than 250 volunteers who are a vital part of the 2024 season.

“Goodwill NCW is proud to support the Miracle League season for our players, families and communities, as part of our mission of Elevating People by Eliminating Barriers to Employment,” Tim Wavrunek, Mission Team Leader of Community Programs at Goodwill NCW said. “Miracle League gives children and teens with disabilities the opportunity to build valuable skills they carry forward into their future.”

The Miracle League of the Chippewa Valley is entering its 8th season. Games are played at 5:45 and 7 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Miracle Field at Jeffers Road Park, 5710 Jeffers Road, Eau Claire.
