DIY Sweater Pillow Project Steps
Supplies You’ll Need:
- Thrifted sweater
- Thrifted pillow
- Scissors
- Sewing supplies
01
Prep your sweater
Start by making sure your sweater fits your pillow. Lay the sweater flat and place the pillow on top to guide your sizing. If your sweater has a pattern or design, position it where you want it to show on the finished pillow.
Carefully cut around the pillow shape. Because sweaters can be thick, cut one layer at a time, starting with the front panel, then the back. Once both pieces are cut, line them up to make sure they’re even.

02
Turn it into a pillow cover
Place the sweater pieces together with the outer sides facing inward. Pin along the top and sides, leaving the bottom open. Sew those three sides using a machine or by hand, then trim any excess fabric.
Turn the cover right side out, insert your pillow, and sew the bottom closed.
Enjoy your new cozy creation, perfect for adding a warm, handmade touch to your space.
