North Central Wisconsin – Throughout September, Goodwill North Central Wisconsin (NCW) will recognize National Workforce Development Month. The National Association of Workforce Development Professionals established Workforce Development Month to recognize the significant impact workforce development programs have had in rebuilding our economy, building a pipeline to good, quality jobs and supporting underserved communities.

Goodwill NCW’s Career EXCELerate® is one such program, offering certifications for in-demand careers like healthcare, skilled trades and retail pathways, while providing career guidance, training, support services and job placement at no cost to the student through in-person, online and hybrid options.

“Through partnerships with employers, educational institutions and community organizations, we’re helping more people eliminate barriers, gain the skills and credentials needed for in-demand careers, and build brighter futures,” said Kayla Countney, Partnership and Development Manager at Goodwill NCW. “At the same time, we’re helping employers connect with the talent they need to strengthen our regional workforce.”

Career EXCELerate’s ongoing success helped drive the decision to expand. As of July 20, 2026:

71% of graduates have obtained employment or continued their education in their field of study one year after graduation.
100% of students were offered resume services and financial literacy training.
The average wage increase from intake to a graduate’s first job is $11.08.

Goodwill NCW collaborates with technical colleges and other education partners across the region it serves in eastern, central and western Wisconsin, expanding program availability, preparing local talent for high-demand occupations while helping employers fill critical positions.
