Volunteer Registration

Team Helpers assist with equipment (picking up bats after player hits, etc.), cheering on players coming to home plate, building relationships with players and volunteers, and filling in as a buddy if needed. This role requires enthusiasm and compassion and serves as the team’s number one fan, cheerleader and friend. 

Team Helpers are assigned to one team for the season. This volunteer opportunity is great for anyone who cannot commit to being at the field every week or is not comfortable being a buddy. Team Helpers must be at least 13 years old. 

Each team has two coaches who are responsible for communicating, coordinating, leading and encouraging their selected team (buddies, team helpers, players and families). This role requires enthusiasm, compassion and organization. Serving as a team coach is an eight-week commitment with no practices and one game a week. Games are played the same night each week. 

Coaches are required to attend a coaches’ meeting and opening day. Coaches can be 18 years old and available for all of their team’s scheduled games. Total time commitment averages 2 hours a week. No prior coaching experience is needed.

Umpires manage and maintain the flow of the game. Full attention is required on the field, as player safety is the number one priority. This role requires enthusiasm, compassion and assertiveness. If a player would like to receive pitches, they are given a maximum of five underhand pitches – there are no strikes. If a player is not able to hit one of the five pitches or chooses not to receive pitches, a tee will be used. Umpires are responsible for retrieving balls, setting up the tee and removing bats/balls/tee from home plate area, allowing incoming players to score. Umpires call everyone “safe” at home plate. 

Umpires are required to attend a coaches’ meeting and opening day. Umpires can be 15 years old and available one night a week during the season. Umpires will volunteer for both the 5:30 and 7 p.m. games. Total time commitment averages three hours a week. Knowledge of baseball is required. Prior umpiring experience is not required.

Announcers bring the games to life and keep them fun and exciting for everyone. Announcers make every game memorable for players, fans, volunteers and families. This role requires an enthusiastic, engaging, compassionate and outgoing individual who can think on the fly. 

Announcers are required to attend a coaches’ meeting and opening day. Announcers can be 18 years old and available one night a week during the season. Announcers will announce both the 5:30 and 7 p.m. games. Total time commitment averages three hours a week. Knowledge of baseball is preferred. Prior announcing and/or public speaking is required.

Field Assistants help the program leader or field supervisor run the game smoothly. They may assist with the sound equipment, scoreboard, or missing positions on the field. They are required to fill in as need in any capacity. This role requires enthusiasm and compassion and serves as all player's number one fan, cheerleader, and friend. 

Field Assistants are required to attend a coaches' meeting, and opening day. Assistants can be 16 years old and available one night a week during the season. Assistants will volunteer for both 5:30 and 7 p.m. games. We will have field assistant each day of the week for a total of 4 assistants. Total time commitment averages three hours a week. Knowledge of baseball is required.
